I know a cemetery may seem like a strange place to visit as a tourist in a foreign city, but Montmartre Cemetery in Paris’ 18th arrondissement is a tourist attraction for good reason. The place is absolutely gorgeous, somber, tranquil, and even eery at times. Built below street level, the cemetery was opened in 1825 and is the resting place to many notable people, composers, playwrights, dancers, artists. The history of the place was palpable.
